Hip Resurfacing

What is Hip Resurfacing?

Hip Resurfacing
is a type of specialized surgery for repairing a damaged hip joint. A carefully developed system desi
gned by Derek McMinn was released in England in 1997. Immediately, Indian orthopedic surgeons began learning this technique in England and then implemented it in India. Only in May 2006 did the FDA approve hip resurfacing in the US. By that time British and Indian surgeons had many years of experience in this type of surgery.

Birmingham Hip Resurfacing® (BHR) is a comprehensive system to address the needs of almost all sizes of patient and those with acetabular deficiency. Bimingham Hip Resurfacing (BHR) is truly bone conserving. In the event that a revision should become necessary there is still a virtually intact healthy femur allowing for a 'primary' hip without the normal complications associated with revision.

What are the advantages of Hip Resurfacing?

The advantages of hip resurfacing over total hip replacement include less bone removal which potentially reduces trauma on the body and encourages quicker recovery time. Secondly, hip resurfacing allows more bone preservation which generally reduces the chance of dislocation and provides more bone stock if a future surgery is needed. Additionally, the full range of movement is retained from resurfacing, and almost zero chance of a dislocation.

Can I return to normal activities after Hip Resurfacing?

Wickepedia
reports many athletes continue to compete at the professional level after hip resurfacing:
  • Cory Foulk finished a marathon three months after his surgery, and finished 11th in the Ultraman world championship eleven months later.
  • Jim Roxburgh continues to participate in the martial arts after having both hips resurfaced in 2004.
  • Ian MacLaren of the Torashin Karate Club is believed to be the first 5th dan Karate-ka in the world to have had both hips resurfaced.
  • Floyd Landis, the 2006 Tour de France winner.
Markey Davis is a Health and Accident Insurance General Agent who quit paying his own premiums two years earlier when the monthly reached $1,600 for only he and his wife. He knew he had a bad hip and that one day it would give out, but he just started saving his monthly premiums and said this:
"If you had a fine automobile and the transmission went out, would you want the mechanic just out of trade school working on it, or would you want the old Master Mechanic? We'll," he continued, "when my transmission went out, I wanted the Old Master Mechanic and that was Dr. ______."* He went on to say, "I saved $80,000, the way I figure it."
You see, hip resurfacing had been practiced in India for a number of years by the time the FDA allowed it to move beyond clinical trials in the States. And Indian surgeons had thousands of procedures under their collective belts when Markey needed his. His choice was not difficult at all, and he's very happy with the outcome. He walks withou a limp or any pain!

Where can I have Hip Resurfacing done?

Because of private state-of- the- art hospitals and highly trained and experienced doctors combined with the lowest prices world-wide, India has become the leader in the number of hip resurfacing surgeries for both domestic patients and those abroad.

Who can help me arrange this procedure?

America’s Medical Solutions
,
a medical tour facilitating company owned by Americans living in India helps patients from the west simplify the process to come for such surgeries in India. Call toll-free 1-877-779-9229 in the United States for more information. While clients are under no obligation, as in a fine restaurant, we average a 15% ( + - ) gratuity if our client believes our services have been worthwhile. This keeps us on our toes for all the best that India has to offer without any axes to grind. And since we have lived here 24/7/365 for so many years, it's hard to fool us. We are your bridge to Asia and your wish is our command. It's also a little hard to fool a patient as to whether our services were appreciated or not.

Hi Don,

Long lost friend here.

I would like to affirm that there is definitely value in travelling overseas for medical treatment to select countries that are not choaked by the over-burden of laws and red tape.

As an example, I come from a country that is years ahead of America in cardiac restoration treatment. I have a friend who is a cardiologist who has been performing techniques, years ago, that American doctors are only starting to think about.

As such, I think that you guys are onto something great and I for one will definitely look your way if I have a major medical need in the future.

Keep up the good work.

Lasik or laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis (LASIK) is a kind of eye surgery, where the patient has to undergo a laser eye treatment process, in which his/her cornea is re-shaped to proffer better sight. To get rid of eye sight related issues, and to get rid of glasses, there is nothing better than Lasik eye treatment. And as we all know, medical science has been progressing in an unmatchable speed, and if thoroughly evaluated and performed, Lasik can help you to enjoy spectacle less life. In most cases, after undergoing Lasik, patient doesn't need to wear glasses. But if the patient is above 40, he/she may need to wear reading glasses that too if both eyes were corrected for clear distance vision.
